Developments From Last Week

In terms of answering the above title I have:

-  make the concept more obvious by using imagery ⬇️

there are grand plans for this but in the mean time I created an A4 collage that showcased Grace Jones. Previously I asked my followers on Facebook to name women of colour who inspire them and she was a popular choice. The t-shirt print is colourful and playful, which matches her character in some ways.  Each week I will create new ones of other famous women of colour and by using Getty images of women from different ethnic groups to showcase diversity.

 - have a strap line ⬇️

obviously a big challenge trying to convey the message in your brand. There are some ideas floating around but 'Celebrating Women of Colour' seems to be the best choice at the moment as it encapsulates the overarching concept in a positive way.

- add pricing  ⬇️

the simplest of all the tasks, which incorporates the next point below. Two birds, one stone.

- showcase the names  ⬆️

- expand the garment range to screen printed sweat shirts  ⬇️

so this was the trickiest of all tasks to complete due to a variety of technical issues. Which was surprising and frustrating as screen printing is a technique I feel extremely confident in. In a nutshell, the printing bed coupled with the texture of the sweatshirts proved very difficult to print on. Not enough pressure and the fabric composition is very spring like. Also being very fatigued that day did not help as I was not applying even pressure across the whole garment. Same issue with the tote bag as well.

But where there is a will, there's a way. So I will be back in the print studio on Tuesday with some better arm power and time to dedicate to the whole process. Printing under duress is never a good option. So with a break from the market next week I will minamise the stress and expectation I place upon myself to actually print with accuracy. I will be in my element.  Here's a couple of images to illustrate the contact issues I had.

Abstract Asian becomes even more abstract due to the lack of even contact. And peeking and placing the screen back down incorrectly is never a good option? Hence the double exposure effect!!

Seemingly got bored half way and completely changed the pressure I was applying.  Go figure!

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions regarding being a business entrepreneur and creating your own fashion brand please let me know, all feedback extremely welcome.

Have a great week.
