The Show Must Go On!

Come rain or shine, good health or not, as an entrepreneur you have to keep going.   Despite my head feeling like it has been in a vice and my throat resembling sandpaper in the past week, I have to keep working. The luxury has been that I have embraced my pyjamas in a warm house never far from the basic necessities.  This has helped my psychology significantly and indirectly my creativity.  The shock to the system is leaving this to be on the market stall today.  It is cold!

In previous posts I have written about the need to promote the message behind the brand more. How to do this whilst being fun and creative at the same time?

So in my vice like trance I sat on the floor surrounded by cuts outs of ladies of colour and painted marks to experiment with possible narratives.  The freedom of collage allows for quick turnaround of ideas, which is great for my impulsive but creative nature.

The initail idea was to create a comic book strip. Then inspired by the above collages, I thought I would keep it freer and more in tune with the prints but then came full circle back to the comic book idea again.  The rational was linked to the concept of narrative and how to convey this in a clear but slick way.   I like the polished look when it comes to the overall aesthetic of the brand and graphics as a whole.  I love illustration too so being able to combine prints, and well all of these elements is really exciting to me, sad but true!

I am at the stage of finalising the design ready for it to be printed poster size.  The tweaks will come from the feedback I receive via my social media posts and of course, my own thoughts.

Here they are so far ⬇️

I think I might play about with the "Yeah's" as they conflict with the yellow, possibly too busy in that area?  Add some colour behind the ladies instead?

The alternative is simpler ⬇️

This one is easier on the eye.  Perhaps lacks the complexity of the other one?  Decisions decisions.  More experimentation will help resolve the issue but I'm thinking a combination of the two will work.  Let me know what you think.  Any constructive feedback is always welcome.

Next stages are to photograph the new products and add them to my website.  It is amazing how long this process is.  Plus I need to change the layout of it so it looks more like a shop.  Along side this, research good printers for the poster.  Contact other markets to see if I can sell there to compare to where I am now.  No sales today; I need to keep focused but it is so hard as a start up to not only keep motivated but moving forward - must remain positive!

And finally, deep breath, get ready for the Christmas fairs I am taking part in. Here are the dates:
