Get Ready It's Sample Time!
Spring is here and so is a new focus to get the brand launched. Moving house and having no internet has somewhat hindered meeting expected deadlines previously pencilled in. However, this is a passion project. One that I hope will grow and become my main source of income. Without putting too much pressure on myself I realise that utilising the season is of paramount importance. So as you can see, I waiver between being somewhat calm but then realising that if I want my business to prosper I need to have a sound business mind.
Vision is important, and keeping true to the underlying message or USP in conjunction with my artistic integrity is always a fine balance. The last few months have consisted of me finding a new company who can print my designs digitally on to the fabric I want with the right colours, and textures. There are so many details to consider; quality, time frames, costs, to mention a few.
When launching a brand with the concept of raising awareness of the lack of BME women in fashion along with creating designs that are both artistic and get the point across is, as mentioned before, a fine balance. I feel like I am constantly flitting between the abstract and obvious, I want to raise awareness and not ram the message down peoples throats or do I? What is the point of having a USP and it not being obvious?
As a result I intend to cover all bases, for my own artistic expression I will create either an obvious or abstract range of designs to convey the core concept underpinning the brand and in turn giving the consumer choice.
